Supposedly eleventh gen Intel cores with the Intel AI instruction set might be even faster but who wants to invest in Rocket Lake or Tiger Lake? The way Topaz Sharpen AI rendering times compare using the CPU vs the GPU puts Adobe's sort of occasional use of the GPU to shame. In general Topaz sharpen AI results seem never less than good enough. In my adventure with Topaz Sharpen AI what I find is that for many subjects comparable results-judged subjectively of course- can be achieved with a variety of sharpening methods, with or without masking. I used the Too Soft choice (there is also Motion Blur and Out of Focus) and set Remove Blur to 40 (0 to 100).īy the way, here is my TX1 review from 2019: I then processed it again, but set ACR sharpening to 0 and then sent it to Topaz Sharpen AI 3.0.3 to see what it could do. Here is the raw processed in Photoshop CC/ACR with the following ACR sharpening settings: These are also at 250mm-efl f5.9 (wide open) and shot in raw. Handheld, but I was careful to be steady. Last year I decided to do another check, but this time the subject was about 30 meters away. If anything I would say less sharpening for both would be better, but I decided to go with these settings because I know that many here demand inordinate sharpness. I am not into pixel peeping, but they seem close enough to not matter. I used the Too Soft choice (there is also Motion Blur and Out of Focus) and set Remove Blur to 25 (0 to 100).

Click to see the full size photos in all their glory. The rock face is not flat so keep in mind that some deeper parts are a bit outside the plane of focus. Maybe I just got a good one?Ī couple of years ago I took this test photo at what is supposed to be the worst focal length and aperture: 250mm f5.9 (wide open). I have been fairly satisfied with mine though. Some have said that the lens, particularly at the maximum focal length of 250mm-efl is very soft. I bought a Panasonic Lumix TX1 (ZS100/TZ100) over 2 years ago. Today I was reminded of a couple of test photos I took. A few days ago I bought Topaz Sharpen AI 3.0.3 so I have been playing around with various old photos to see what it could do. compatibility with older versions of photoshop may vary. NOTE: actions were made in photoshop cc 2015. it doesn’t hurt to try though! i would love to hear how they work

Hiya, dear hearts! i crazy love topaz clean + topaz denoise and the healing magic it brings to over-processed textures once they’ve been edited and played around with too much.Īs seen above, i took a recolored hair texture then ran Freshly Baked over it to clean up the artifacts / noise created within the texture from recoloring, resulting in a much cleaner, smoother, crisper texture!ĭo note that this was made with hair textures in mind - i haven’t tested it on other textures (clothing, objects, etc.) so results may not be the same. + a topaz clean & denoise action for textures
