I love me some good old raw Norwegian black metal, but my roots are in dreamy music, not in metal, and Alcest (and Écailles de Lune) showed me the way to let myself write the music I wanted, to mix my influences as I thought I should and not based on what I assumed people were expecting from a post-black metal band.
Marunata: I have a rather high and feminine voice without trying, and so does Neige, and it has helped me gain in confidence to use it as it is without trying to sound differently from who I am.
